A real monument of nature and human history. In this way we can define the Zona del Farfa, a small protected area near the homonymous river, a left branch of the Tevere river. The area is included within the municipal boundaries of Mompeo, in the heart of Sabina. The Gole del Farfa are one of the most beautiful and interesting places in Lazio from a naturalistic and landscape point of view, with forms of rare beauty immersed in the luxuriant vegetation, as well as habitats for different species, both plant and animal.
Today this place, protected by the Lazio region and inserted, not surprisingly, between the Sites of Community Importance (SCI) and the Special Protection Areas (SPAs) by the European Union, hosts a vast network of archaeological-naturalistic routes that allow to discover this extraordinary heritage.
